About Dr. Elise Wong ND, L.Ac
I grew up on a small farm near the coast of Oregon, where I learned to respect and love nature. In pursuit of this passion I attended The Evergreen State College and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In addition to working at the Student Health Center at Evergreen I completed an internship with a naturopathic physician in Gig Harbor, which piqued my interest in the natural health field.
After working for several years as a Certified Medical Assistant I attended the country’s oldest naturopathic college, the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), where I studied naturopathy and classical Chinese medicine for 6 years.
With a degree in naturopathy and acupuncture, I opened a successful clinic in Portland, Oregon where I practiced for 7 years before moving back to Olympia. While practicing in Portland I discovered my passion and skill for helping women get pregnant, supporting them through their pregnancy and assisting them through post partum. It is one of the most rewarding experiences to aid families through this process and meet their beautiful newborns face to face.
In addition to fertility, I also specialize in women’s health and love working with women of all ages. Acupuncture and naturopathic medicine are extremely effective for treating a wide variety of women’s health issues, including dysmenorrhea (painful periods), PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), menstrual issues, menopause/perimenopause and many more.
The blending of naturopathy and Chinese medicine has provided me with a broader perspective and deeper understanding of health and disease. As a practitioner with two diverse degrees, I have the tools necessary to provide appropriate care for a broad spectrum of people.
It is my greatest joy to be a mother. When I’m not working I’m spending time with my family, hiking, canoeing, and playing. I particularly enjoy cooking family meals with fresh produce from my garden.
