Acupuncture and naturopathic medicine are extremely helpful during pregnancy. I generally recommend weekly visits during your first trimester to help minimize symptoms, such as morning sickness, fatigue or mood swings, and to lower the risk of miscarriage. I recommend monthly visits for second and third trimester. If baby is in a breach position at 36 weeks, we can consider using acupuncture to reposition the baby. I usually begin induction acupuncture at 39 weeks, unless your midwife or OB-GYN is planning an early delivery. I recommend acupuncture 2-3 times per week for induction.

I require all of my pregnant patients to have either an OB-GYN or a midwife supervising their pregnancy. I am adjunctive care only. That being said, I am always available to answer any questions you have regarding your pregnancy including those may not have been thoroughly explained by your other practitioners. I play a supporting role and will spend the time to make sure you’re comfortable with, and knowledgeable about, your birth plan, what to expect along the way, and things to anticipate once your baby is born.

What to expect at your first visit
I will get a detailed health history at your first visit and review any lab results you might have. I will then recommend a treatment plan, including additional testing if needed, lifestyle modifications, supplements and acupuncture.
